Picking the right school for your child is confusing and a long process! We hope that the 2018 New Orleans School Open House Guide  makes that job easier for you as parents.

Some of the schools listed in this directory have paid for their placement.

Academy of Sacred Heart

Changing the world since 1867

The Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans is a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls offering education and instructional services from pre-kindergarten school through grade 12. Little Hearts, our Early Learning Program for ages 1 through 3 year-old girls, is also a division of the school.

Founded in 1867 and affectionately known as the Rosary, the school has a long history that is rooted in the spiritual charism of the Society of the Sacred Heart whose mission is to “make known the love of God through the heart of Jesus.”

At Sacred Heart, we challenge our girls with an education attuned to the circumstances and times in which we live, and we express an exceptional spirit of love – for our traditions, our students and our community.

Customs and traditions that characterize Sacred Heart schools evolve over the years, but the vital force always remains the same: a deep personal love of God. This love inspires our students to share their gifts with others through lives of concern and service.

Mount Carmel Academy

You’re invited to Mount Carmel Academy’s Open House on Thursday, October 11 from 3 – 7 p.m. See everything Mount Carmel has to offer, meet our students and teachers, and tour our campus!

The Mount Carmel Academy experience is filled with opportunities for each student to pursue her passions, uncover new talents, grow spiritually, and discover the person God created her to become. The challenging curriculum enables students to cultivate critical thinking skills, communicate effectively, weigh social and religious values, and prepare for higher education. A 1:1 MacBook program enhances instruction and offers powerful collaborative and in-class possibilities. Small class sizes (average of 15) ensure each student receives individualized attention while developing meaningful connections with her teachers and peers.

As they navigate through a diverse selection of elective offerings and more than 50 extracurricular activities, students are encouraged to expand interests and become active participants in the community. Service to others is an integral part of a Mount Carmel education. Through hard work and reflection, students develop a deep respect for God, their families, and all of God’s creation. Teamwork and perseverance are found on and off the field on 11 athletic teams.
