This was our second year attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and fall is our favorite time to visit Mickey!

We actually drove for nine hours just to attend this event and turn around and drive nine hours back to come home.

And It. Was. Worth. Every. Second!

The Castle Stage Show during MNSSHP!

Here is a list of our reasons why you need to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World:

(in no particular order because it is all amazing)

Shorter Wait Times

I hate lines! I am absolutely willing to drive this far for one day to avoid the usual lines at Walt Disney World.

Because MNSSHP it is a ticketed event, there are almost no lines. We get to ride the rides we love multiple times!

They let you in at 4:00 pm while the park is still technically open. We hit the rides that we know will not be open for the event first.

Then, at 6:00 they kick out anyone without a wristband for the event and it is magical. The majority of the crowd disappears.

We have never waited longer than 30 minutes for a ride!

It’s Not As Hot

Fall is a wonderful time of year to visit Walt Disney World. Since the party happens at night, the temperatures are cooler and more bearable.

The first year we went, we even needed jackets.

It is very nice to be able to explore the park with very little crowd and without the sun draining us.

You Can Go Trick or Treating in the Magic Kingdom

At 11 and 12, our kids are getting a bit too old to go trick or treating. I am also getting kind of tired of dragging them around the neighborhood.

At Disney, trick or treating is fun again! There are multiple stations set up where you walk through a quick line and a cast member loads up your bag with a handful of candy. Good candy, too!

They provide the bags and, if you fill a bag, they give you another.

If you have an allergy, you can get a teal colored bag and they have allergy friendly treats.

Adults are not only welcomed to join in the fun, but encouraged. We all went home with a huge bag of candy!

Special MNSSHP treats! YUMMY!

Spooktacular Treats

They offer special, event only treats at different locations throughout the park.

These cost extra, but some are well worth the price.

A few even come with some sort of souvenir. For example, we tried a frozen apple cider at Gaston’s Tavern and were able to keep the Gaston mug it came in.

There were also Jack and Sally push pops, a Maleficent cone and many others.

Rides with a Halloween Twist

Some rides have special additions to them. The Pirates of the Caribbean ride had live actors that were very funny. Space Mountain is completely dark and plays a Halloween themed soundtrack. There are lots of surprises!

Scream-o-Ween Dance Party

There is a super fun dance party! In Tomorrowland, you can dance the night away with Mike and Sully. There is a DJ and it is so much fun. It is also a great way to take a quick break and let the kids dance around for a bit. The characters and cast members keep the kids engaged.

Special Character Meet and Greets

We all have our favorites Disney Characters like the Disney Princesses and Winnie the Pooh. However, it is fun to see characters we do not always get to see. There are special character interactions! Some characters are dressed in costume. There are lots more villains around.  All are waiting to take pictures with you.

Warning though: Character lines are actually the longest lines of the night.

Make sure you get Memory Maker to capture all the special magic shots at MNSSHP!

There are also some special picture opportunities where Disney adds their magic. We are always surprised by what pops up in our photos. Make sure you get Memory Maker so you don’t miss any of the fun.

Special Halloween Performances, Halloween Parade and Fireworks

The performance in front of the castle is Halloween themed. It is a performance you can only see at the event. As always, Disney performances are incredible and you will definitely want to see it! The last few years it has been Hocus Pocus themed.

There is also a Halloween themed parade. We usually skip out on this because we are too busy riding all the rides. Pro tip: Lines get even shorter during the parade. But, what we have seen is always impressive.

There is also a Halloween fireworks show that is amazing.
