We have a tradition in our house where we go to Mrs. Heather’s every year. Mrs. Heather’s is located in Hammond, Louisiana on the Northshore. We always go on a weekend and it makes the perfect day trip from New Orleans. It is usually crowded. However, there is so much space to move around that it never feels that way. Have you been? If not, here are five things you need to know about Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch.
Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch has added a bunch of swings of all different types. Now there are plenty to share without much fuss. They have tire horse swings to swing on. As well as old barrels with saddles on them to make it kind of feel like ridding a horse. They also normal swing for the kids not ready to adventure out.
The corn maze is lots of fun. My kids loved leading us around the worn down areas to find our way out. The corn maze isn’t great for strollers or wagons. I suggest just parking them outside the corn maze and just grabbing your wallet or bag.
Usually they will try to have characters out a few at a time. If your child is anything like mine and extremely afraid of the characters you can still go as they generally keep the characters in one area. A few of the characters they had while we were there was Elsa, Anna, Minnie, Mickey, Daisy, Donald and Elmo.
Pumpkins and Other Activities
I love that you can take your kids to weigh and measure your pumpkin to see how big or small it is. Also from time to time you can catch Mrs. Heather telling how a pumpkin grows, which is great for school-aged children to learn. Then after you weigh, measure and learn how pumpkins grow you can bring your kids to paint their pumpkin. Painting your pumpkin is only available on weekends.
They also have so many other things for kids to do such as the jumping pillow, milk a cow, tunnel slides, a nature trail and so much more.
What to Bring To Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch
Just as a reminder because I know I always forget to bring sunscreen, tons of drinks for hydration (although they do sell water for $1), cash (as it is a fee for using credit cards), stroller/wagon (for tired kids and/ or pumpkins), wear close toe shoes, and try to go early morning (so it’s not so hot).
Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch will be open from September 28th through November 8th. Hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm. Children ages newborn and up are $7 and includes a pumpkin and all the activities. Adults are FREE.
Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch is located at 11215 Lee’s Ln Hammond, LA 70401
