20 AWESOME Non-Candy Alternatives for the Easter Basket

easter basket without candy

I don’t know about you, but between Halloween, Christmas, and Mardi Gras my family gets their share of sweets and then some! By the time Easter rolls around, I am over. it. So the Easter Bunny typically fills my children’s Easter baskets with (mostly) useful items as opposed to sweets. To inspire you to do the same, I’ve compiled a list of non-candy alternatives!

Books

We love the Little Blue Truck series and the Springtime edition is super cute and Easter Love Letters from God is a great book to help explain & celebrate Easter with your littles. Of course, The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a year-round classic.

Summer Fun

Easter is a great time to get the kids all the things you would normally buy them for summer. Like swimsuits – You can’t go wrong with a new swimsuit! And don’t forget sunglasses, which are the perfect swimsuit accessory!

Beach Towels are always a good choice, I love the personalized ones from Monogram Junkie!

Pool/Beach accessories such as beach balls, rafts, floaties, and this super cool glitter sunscreen!

Water Toys – perfect for encouraging outdoor play!

Art Supplies

Crayons and sidewalk chalk are ALWAYS staples in our baskets.

Coloring books – we can never have too many of these in our house!

Water mat/Water Wow Coloring Books – My kids love the aqua mat and the Melissa and Doug water wow books are perfect for traveling! No mess!

For Babies and Small Children

Teething toys – ZukaBaby has a cute Bunny teether and I love this carrot one from Amazon!

Small toys – I love, love this Bunny & Carrot pull toy and these HABA Shakin Eggs are so much fun!

Hats, whether a baseball cap or a floppy sun hat, these are great for the Easter basket and will get so much use during festivals and the summer!

Bubbles – enough said! Who doesn’t love playing pop the bubble?!

For Teens and Tweens

Jewelry – perfect for tweens/teens who have outgrown the toys and coloring books!

Gift cards – iTunes, Amazon, Target, Xbox, AMC, local trampoline parks, & gaming centers – just to name a few!

Movies – Although DVDs are becoming a bit outdated, we still use them in the car on long trips.

Headphones/Earbuds/Phone Chargers – because, like socks, they ALWAYS disappear.

Cash – because my kids like to save for college…or for Fortnite skins….HA!

Clothes

PJs – I can’t ever get enough of cute PJs for my kids – bonus points if they are matching!

Fun Socks – Target’s Dollar Spot & the dollar stores usually have some fun socks for girls and boys

Now don’t get me wrong, the Easter Bunny isn’t a TOTAL scrooge!

My kids will find one or two treats in their baskets to indulge in on Easter morning, usually jelly beans and/or robin eggs because those are the Easter Bunny’s favorite! 😉

What are some of your favorite non-candy things to place in the Easter baskets?
